Academic Calendar Offerings
NEISD offers multiple ways for students to garner their education, including a choice of campuses that provide traditional and year-round calendars. If you would like your student to attend a specific campus outside of your immediate area, you may apply for School Choice through the NEISD School Choice application process.

Calendar Adoption Process

NEISD established an adoption process that provides two calendar options to the District Educational Improvement Council (DEIC), Elementary, and Secondary campuses for review. NEISD campuses select the district calendar through an internal campus voting process and submit their final vote to the district. The calendar with the most votes is presented to the NEISD school board and reviewed for approval. Once the district calendar is board approved, all other NEISD calendars are submitted and presented for board approval.

Year-Round School Calendar

Castle Hills Elementary provides the year-round school calendar option for NEISD students, with 180 instructional days and two intersession breaks throughout the year. Intersession breaks are designed to provide students academic enrichment and instructional support.

The NEISD Academy of Creative Education Calendar

The Academy of Creative Education provides an extended school year calendar for high school students who are at-risk of dropping out.
